Adjusting your diet must be considered when you are on a diet. Meal portions are not the only determining your success in losing weight, you know!

Kalbe nutritionist dr. Dewi Virdianti also shared tips for staying healthy and not stressed while on a diet.

The first is to pay attention to the number of calories. Because to get the ideal body weight, calculating the number of daily calories consumed is essential.

Those on a diet will eat fewer calories than the energy requirement per day for physical activity.

As a nutritionist, Dewi also explained the number of calories adults need, which is 2,000 calories a day. However, this amount will be reduced by 500 daily calories for those who want to lose weight.

Dewi also explained the principles of a healthy diet that must be considered so as not to endanger health.

"The type and amount of food are the principles of a healthy diet that must be considered. This type of food, for example, protein, vegetables and fruits," she said.

To avoid feeling hungry quickly, those on a diet are advised to consume complex carbohydrates so that the body feels full longer. Some options can be an option, including oatmeal, sweet potatoes, potatoes, taro, and cassava.

Dewi also explained that the daily meal schedule is essential to pay attention to. This is because there are still many people who need clarification about this. "Eating three times a day can still be done, yes. Diet doesn't mean you don't need breakfast, don't have dinner, or don't have lunch. You can still eat as long as you pay attention to the amount and type of food," he said in his official statement.

"In addition, consistent and regular physical activity such as sports is also necessary. This pattern can become a habit or change in behavior," she continued.

He added that this fundamental principle must be understood so that those who go on a diet do not get complications and instead experience weight gain.

"If you want to lose weight, but the diet is not right and you don't follow a balanced nutritional pattern, then the body is at risk for complications. This includes rebound, the weight returns after the diet is over, because the appetite becomes higher," added Dewi.

Rebound is when the body lacks carbohydrates, so the body will ask for more carbohydrates.

"In addition, the amount of nutrition or calories must be adjusted to each activity. For example, if the majority of daily activities are just sitting or lying down, yes, the calorie intake must also be reduced. But if there are lots of activities, such as sports or other physical activities, then the calorie intake can be 2000 or even more," she added.

Consuming balanced nutrition must also be done to prevent malnutrition during a diet, namely, the body experiencing an imbalance in nutritional intake.

If the body experiences, excess nutrients will cause obesity. Conversely, if a lack of nutrition, the body can be thin and at risk of triggering the disease.

Dewi closed her explanation by explaining the symptoms of malnutrition, including easily achy, weak, impaired immune system and hormone formation due to lack of protein, muscle cramps due to lack of calcium, and even fainting due to running out of energy.
